Midfielder Keith Fahey has tonight signed a pre-contract agreement and will join Blues from Irish side St. Patrick's Athletic FC on a three-and-a-half year deal on 2 January 2009.
The 25-year-old Dublin-born player began his professional career as a trainee with Arsenal before moving up to the Midlands to join Aston Villa in 1999 for £250,000.
During his time in B6 he made just a single appearance for the Villans, which came in the Intertoto Cup against Lille, before moving back to his home country.
Back in Ireland he initially linked up with non-league side Bluebell United before swiftly moving to join up with FAI League of Ireland Premier Division side St. Patrick's.
He spent two season's with the club before switching to Drogheda United.
But after a period of just seven months, the former Ireland youth international returned to St. Patrick's.
Fahey is highly regarded for his free-kicks and corners, as well as his creativity in the centre of midfield.
In early November of this year he was named as the PFAI Premier Division Player of the Year for 2008 at the Association's annual award ceremony.
